Derailed @ The Market Tavern, Sandbach View map - The Market Tavern Permanent link

Derailed

DERAILED are a four-piece rock covers band based in Crewe.

VOCALIST Suzi Venables-Wood ‘Suzi Blue’ brings a new twist to class rock covers. With her powerful and agile vocals, she brings a vocal quality to the band. She takes to stage with enthusiasm and a diverse set list that is sure to have you singing along. Taking inspiration from Muse, Skunk Anansie and No Doubt, she brings a vibrant and fresh sound to the stage.

LEAD GUITARIST Dave Dayman has been playing guitar since the age of nine. His first guitar was a beaten up acoustic and in the beginning he had dreams of playing in a world-dominating heavy metal band (very uncool at the time as it was 1982 and electronic music was the 'in thing'). From that point on he was hooked on anything to do with music, especially the guitar and has always had a passion for rock based music. His taste has grown over the years (age and wisdom do that to you apparently) and his influences include a wide range of artists from Queen and Muse to Band of Skulls and Biffy Clyro, Simple Minds to Early Maiden, Pink Floyd to Free and plenty in between. Dave has played with various bands over the years and loves how music makes him feel... His passion for music is somewhat contagious.

BASSIST Ian 'Hitchy' Hitchinson is a seasoned bass guitarist, formerly of long running local band Bedlam, is now plucking the low strings in this unique female fronted rock band. Originally from Sandbach, he's always been into rock music, and was a biker back in the day. Musically his influences range from The Beatles, Cage the Elephant, Chilli peppers to The Cheeky Girls. Only joking...

DRUMMER Rob Hoggett. Most drummers have an epiphany moment when they realize "That's what I wanna do!" - Rob had a moment while watching an old black and white American sitcom called "I Love Lucy" with the amazing Lucille Ball. In this episode her son, played by Dezi Arnaz Jr, was entered into a drum battle. To get him into shape Lucy had invited no other than Buddy Rich to help out. Rob had no idea who Buddy was at this time, but when they set up 2 Ludwig Black Oyster kits in Lucy's living room and the two of them started beating the sh*t out of them, swapping kits without dropping a beat! Rob was completely mesmerized and totally hooked. Rob loves drumming, he has tried his hand at most styles. Over the years he has been in dozens of bands, both covers and originals and played with hundreds of musicians.

Madama Butterfly @ The Lyceum Theatre, Crewe View map - The Lyceum Theatre Permanent link

Madama Butterfly

Russian State Opera presents Madama Butterfly – One of the most colourful & exotic operas!

Music by G. Puccini. Sung in Italian with English subtitles

“Russian State Opera enjoyed a well-deserved standing ovation” - Daily Post

After successful opera season last year, and featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a large live orchestra with over thirty musicians, Russian State Opera is back to delight you with exquisite production of Madama Butterfly, with a beautiful set and costumes which intensify the emotion in this heart-breaking story.

No opera can match the tragedy and sorrow of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Set in Japan at the turn of the century, it is the story of a doomed love affair between an American naval officer and his young Japanese bride whose self-sacrifice and defiance of her family leads to tragedy.

Sad and tragic it most certainly is, yet the compelling tale of Madama Butterfly remained Puccini’s favourite opera – his supreme theatrical achievements also gave the world its most sublime and beautiful arias in history - One Fine Day and Love Duet, as well as the Humming Chorus which has been popular with opera-goers for over a century. This touching tale of innocent love crushed between two utterly different cultures resonates as strongly as ever in today’s world.

Concessions: £30.50
