PLUS live music from Electro 80's after the fireworks!

The Eighties were a time of radical changes in both music and fashion.

In the aftermath of the punk revolution, daring New Romantics embraced developing sounds and technologies to transform the music industry forever.

Gary Numan, The Human League, Kraftwerk & Depeche Mode all helped to create a totally new genre of music; Electronica or Synth-pop, a futuristic new sound that almost seemed like science fiction at the time.

Electro 80's pay tribute to this era, and have lovingly recreated songs by the afore mentioned pioneers (and many more), to create a live entertainment show that is sure to transport everyone from this generation, back to the days of underground club scenes and even school discos.

Unforgettable classics like Fade to Grey and Just Can't Get Enough are performed alongside lesser-known tracks, which will jog your memory in a nostalgic show that is both visually and acoustically stunning.

Wayne Roberts @ The Flying Lady, Crewe View map - The Flying Lady Permanent link

Wayne Roberts

"What can be said about this young, versatile, entertainer? (quite a bit, actually!)

He started his vocal career and entertaining at a very early age. however, it was not until he teamed up with another young man and created the duo ' Full Stop' that things took off.

That was some years ago and since then Wayne has worked with some of the biggest names in showbiz (Jimmy Cricket to name just one). He has appeared on the showcase show call with ' The Stage' newspaper, who stated that 'Full Stop' are like the up and coming 'Ant and Dec'.

Wayne and ' Full Stop ' are still going strong and continue to make people laugh wherever they go. In 2005 Wayne decided to pursue a solo career as well as the duo and has proved himself to be worthy as a solo artiste.

His blend of vocal capability and humour are a must-see experience for any audience and with his varying range of music there will be something for everyone to enjoy."

Diamonds And Ducks @ The Raven, Crewe View map - The Raven Permanent link

Step Mutha Humbucker

In light of the changes in personnel within camp Humbucker this year and the arrival of front man Mr David Shaw, the guys have also dragged their policies into the modern day by becoming an equal opportunity employer!

To mark such an occasion, Mutha Humbucker were pleased to announce the arrival of the long awaited Step Mutha Humbucker featuring the very talented Ms. Sammy G on vocals - and now rebranded as Diamonds And Ducks!

SMH first appeared together some years ago now as a one off alternative show and at the Nantwich Jazz & Blues festival which on the night seemed to gel and work quite nicely.
Now for 2018 the guys approached Sammy to get this act off the ground again - this has affected man banter in the van but not affected the show!!!

The dials continue to be cranked to 11 but with a brand new set to entertain the masses, expect tracks from Queen & Tina Turner to Pat Benatar & Pink.

Four Kings Blues Band @ The White Horse, Nantwich View map - The White Horse Permanent link

Artizan @ The Linley Tavern, Alsager View map - The Linley Tavern Permanent link

Artizan

Artizan was formed in October 2012.

The band was formed to bring a high-octane rock show to the local scene, playing popular anthems spanning from 70’s to modern hard anthems.

Expect tracks from the likes of Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac, Stereophonics, Tears For Fears, Kings Of Leon, Journey, Van Halen... The list goes on!!

The bands question wass simple - with the rawest organic ingredients (drums, bass, two guitars and a voice) can they play a set that others dare not spoil (with respect of course!)? Their positive answer was down to the ethos 'playing the easy tracks is simply not good enough anymore'. Naturally the odd track here and there needs to be a dance floor filler - The band understands, this is a must - but the band needed to stand out and the tracks they choose have been carefully selected to leave you remembering that hit of the 80’s that takes you back to your school days or a mad night out!!!

The show includes a big sound and lights with exceptional musicianship with a goal to capture your attention with nothing but live instruments.
Each member of the band have been involved in past live music projects from AB/CD (probably the best AC/DC tribute there ever was), Muthahumbucker (a remarkable rock covers band), Urban Gorilla (classic rock and blues at its best) to Stereotonics and The Dick & Dom Show (for real!)

Rivers, Kidd and The Crow @ Tom's Tap and Brewhouse, Crewe View map - Tom's Tap and Brewhouse Permanent link

Rivers & Kidd

Tom's Halloween Party with Rivers and Kidd.

Rivers and Kidd have developed their own unique style, with original material and new interpretations of well known songs.

It was during the recording of the CD Different Skies that Martin Rivers met Jaqi Kidd, rekindling a friendship that began many years ago. There was an immediate creative spark that came from a common interest in mind body and spirit. Out of this meeting came synergy, where the whole became greater the the sum of the parts; and a new musical partnership was born.
Martin Rivers was an actual punk back in the late 1970's playing guitar with The Uninvited. They were best known for the track “Doing the East Berlin”, which can be found on the compilation LP “Cry Havoc”, which was released on Slip Records. It is now a sought after collectors item. He then went on to become a founding member of Tower Struck Down before departing to pursue different musical interests.

Jaqi Kidd was lead singer in the band Lynx. She has recently returned to the music scene after taking time out and is currently writing new material. She is a holistic therapist and a practitioner of Reiki and Qigong. Jaqi is keen to take Rivers and Kidd to the next level and her voice brings soul and depth to their music.

It was at the first Crewe Steampunk Convivial in 2016 that Rivers & Kidd were introduced to the world of Steampunk. This opened a whole new world of exciting possibilities that they wholeheartedly embraced; and this is adding a new visual dynamic to their stage show. They played The 2017 Crewe Steampunk Convivial with Jasper the Steampug who unashamedly stole the show!

Rivers and Kidd have recently joined forces with ace drummer The Crow to become a Steampunk acoustic power trio.

Hayley Strangelove @ Tom's Tap and Brewhouse, Crewe View map - Tom's Tap and Brewhouse Permanent link

Hayley Strangelove

Hayley Strangelove is an acoustic singer/songwriter, hailing from Merseyside and currently residing in Crewe, Cheshire...

30-something years old with blue hair (for now), a beat up guitar and a unique outlook on life, Hayley wrote her first song at the tender age of 19 after banging out some chords and being pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

After singing in many cover bands, ranging from jazz and blues through to heavy rock, Hayley formed her own band in 2001 to write original material and put her own style of music on the map. She is one half of local legends Baxter.

After experimenting with different sounds, different people, different versions of songs and finally learning to play some instruments herself, Hayley decided that solo was good too (sometimes!!).

And so here we have a gal with a guitar, an eclectic array of unusual self penned gems, often written with tongue planted firmly in her cheek, but all originating and delivered straight from the heart.

Electro 80's @ Shavington Club, Shavington View map - Shavington Club Permanent link

Electro 80's

The Penguin Incident @ The Imperial, Crewe View map - The Imperial Permanent link

The Penguin Incident

The Penguin Incident are a rag tag bunch of musicians from the Northwich area and who were once described by Oliver Reed as the musical equivalent of the A-Team. Still on the run from the CIA for crimes they did not commit (it wasn’t them, honest!), The Penguin Incident have become Rock Soldiers of Fortune, playing gigs in pubs and clubs to fund the cause and to pay for their ever expanding bar tab...

The Penguins play a blend of both modern and classic rock covers, with the emphasis on having a good time.

Please don’t be put off by all the hype around the legendary party antics of this five piece band, who make Motley Crue, look like the New Seekers. Although they like to party, most of the recent reports about wild drunken debauchery have been slightly wide of the mark! Robert Plant when asked to comment on the band famously said “who?"

What they are saying about the Penguins:

Why hasn’t Mr Beckett the guitarist from the mighty Penguin Incident featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine yet? It’s a disgrace; it’s what the people want! - F Rossi, Margarita Nursing Home, Surrey

My Mum booked a band called the Penguin Incident for my 100th birthday party, I can’t recommend
them highly enough, Great vocalist, loads better that the guy who used to be in my band back in
the early 70s! Rock n Roll!
- Sir Jimmy Page, Rocksville

A band called the Penguin Incident played my local pub last night, these guys can really rock, their version of “Whole Lotta Rosie” was epic, I really impressed with Paul`s solo, don’t miss them when they visit your town - Richie Blackmore, Toadstool Hollow, Elf-land

I finally got to see the Penguin Incident down at the Bowling Green last weekend, what a crackin night, me and my mate Dean (Martin), pulled a couple of local gals, got hammered and listened to some great music. I got to meet Mark, the bass guitarist, after the show, What a top bloke, and a what a great bass player! Great pint of mild in the Green too, cheers Tim, - Mr Frank Sinatra, Los Angeles, CA

I asked myself the other day, what’s happened to all the great rock drummers in the world? Then I saw Kerrie from the impressive Penguin Incident, the future is in good hands. I will sleep well tonight - N Peart, A Mountain, Canada

These boys really know how to party; I think I had a great night - O Osborne, Birmingham, England

The bass player is hot, anyone know his number? - Miss K Minogue, Ramsey St, Australia

Artizan @ The Imperial, Crewe View map - The Imperial Permanent link

Beyond The Barricade @ The Lyceum Theatre, Crewe View map - The Lyceum Theatre Permanent link

Beyond The Barricade

The UK’s longest running Musical Theatre Concert Tour features past principal performers from Les Miserables.
Delivering over two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, and of course ending with a stunning finale from Les Mis.
The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean), Andy Reiss ( Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables), Katie Leeming (Eponine), and Poppy Tierney (Cosette) together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.
To this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed.
Beyond the Barricade gives musical theatre songs a bold concertformat treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience are watching the original performance. This incredible concert is now in its 19th successive year.

A must-see show for musical fans - Portsmouth News
Beyond the Barricade has been touring since 1999 and it’s easy to see why the show and cast have developed an almost cult-like following - Stone Reviewer.

Luke Gessner

Luke has 15 years of performance experience, appearing for his first gig at just age 14, following a love for swing handed down from his father, he would often be heard singing the Frank Sinatra classics as a child. It was not long after that Luke could be found treading the boards at the Regent Theatre as part of Jill Clewes Performing Arts, a basis that polished his performance skills and confidence on stage.

Since then Luke completed an A-Level music course at St. Joseph’s College, and so his career came to life. Another performance at the Regent Theatre followed, starring in Little Shop of Horrors as ‘The Plant.’ This would lead to starring as ‘Galileo’ in We Will Rock You, culminating in performing in New York at the Bleecker Street Theatre in musical ‘The Rippers 5.’

Baxter

Baxter is the musical lovechild of Hayley Strangelove and Paul Senior.

Hayley is something of a local legend, with her direct, powerhouse vocals, evenly matched with a dry wit and infectious guitar style that will leave you open mouthed and wanting more.
Paul brings strong vocal styles from soul, blues and jazz through to big rock anthems. He was also the frontman of the rock band Son Of Shinobi.

Baxter strive to be more than your average covers band, choosing the less obvious songs to deliver a completely different experience that will keep you guessing, and dancing, but more importantly, smiling!
