Derailed @ The Raven, Crewe View map - The Raven Permanent link

Derailed

DERAILED are a four-piece rock covers band based in Crewe.

VOCALIST Suzi Venables-Wood ‘Suzi Blue’ brings a new twist to class rock covers. With her powerful and agile vocals, she brings a vocal quality to the band. She takes to stage with enthusiasm and a diverse set list that is sure to have you singing along. Taking inspiration from Muse, Skunk Anansie and No Doubt, she brings a vibrant and fresh sound to the stage.

LEAD GUITARIST Dave Dayman has been playing guitar since the age of nine. His first guitar was a beaten up acoustic and in the beginning he had dreams of playing in a world-dominating heavy metal band (very uncool at the time as it was 1982 and electronic music was the 'in thing'). From that point on he was hooked on anything to do with music, especially the guitar and has always had a passion for rock based music. His taste has grown over the years (age and wisdom do that to you apparently) and his influences include a wide range of artists from Queen and Muse to Band of Skulls and Biffy Clyro, Simple Minds to Early Maiden, Pink Floyd to Free and plenty in between. Dave has played with various bands over the years and loves how music makes him feel... His passion for music is somewhat contagious.

BASSIST Ian 'Hitchy' Hitchinson is a seasoned bass guitarist, formerly of long running local band Bedlam, is now plucking the low strings in this unique female fronted rock band. Originally from Sandbach, he's always been into rock music, and was a biker back in the day. Musically his influences range from The Beatles, Cage the Elephant, Chilli peppers to The Cheeky Girls. Only joking...

DRUMMER Carl Hitchen played in previous bands with two members of Derailed before, local band Bedlam with Suzi and Ian and the Typhoons with Ian. He's played in loads of different bands and different styles of music over the last 15 years, stood in for other bands and helped out when the drummer wasn't available. He says that he 'wings it' most of the time as he's not allowed a kit setup at home as he's quite heavy-handed so his practice drumkit is his steering wheel on the way to work! His favourite style of music is metal but he'll play absolutely anything as long as it sounds good!

The Waterboys @ FAB Festival, Middlewich View map - FAB Festival Permanent link

The Waterboys

Few bands have as great a live reputation as The Waterboys. From their mid-1980s "big music" period through the influential mix of Celtic, gospel and country on their classic Fisherman’s Blues tours, to the hundreds of brilliant shows accompanying the last decade's run of supremely in-form albums from 2011's An Appointment With Mr Yeats to the recent Good Luck, Seeker, The Waterboys have consistently blended tightness, inspiration and improvisation to reach heights of performance few other acts can.

Led by mercurial and brilliant Scottish guitarist/vocalist Mike Scott, the 2022 version of the band features the established line-up of Memphis keyboard great "Brother" Paul Brown, ace British drummer Ralph Salmins and funky Irish bassman Aongus Ralston.

The popular reach of Waterboys music has never been greater. Their songs have been performed by artists as varied as Prince, The Killers and U2, all of whom have performed their classic The Whole Of The Moon; and Fiona Apple who masterfully recorded the song recently; Ellie Goulding, who scored a top 3 UK hit with “How Long Will I Love You”; indie rockers The War On Drugs, Dawes and The Mystery Jets; and classic singers Rod Stewart and Tom Jones. "The Whole Of The Moon" also featured in last year's smash Netflix film Let It Snow and top HBO series The Affair. Waterboys music shows no sign of fading, and the best place to experience it is played by the originators at a concert. Come and feel the fire!

Oysterband @ Middlewich Civic Hall, Middlewich View map - Middlewich Civic Hall Permanent link

Oysterband

Oysterband, the award-winning band who brought passion, power and not a little poetry to folk and roots music!

With a new album out early in 2022, Oysterband already have some of the finest songs in the folk canon to their name: Put Out The Lights; When I’m Up (I Can’t Get Down); Everywhere I Go; The Oxford Girl; Granite Years; Native Son….. They'll be drawing on these and many others from their vast back catalogue when they get back on stage in 2022 to add to more than 40 years of a unique and fiercely independent career.

Oysterband still play with that spirit of the punk ceilidh band that roared through people’s lives all those years ago. But the growing depth and sensitivity of their songwriting, coupled with the strength of John Jones’ voice and their remarkable musicianship, have lifted their music into a richer, more acoustic era.

Their occasional collaboration with folk diva June Tabor has produced two cult-classic award-winning albums, Freedom & Rain and Ragged Kingdom, and a partly live tour sampler Fire & Fleet. Ragged Kingdom and Oysters' hugely influential album Holy Bandits were voted nos. 4 and 5 among the Ten Best Albums of the last 30 years by the public in a poll by fRoots Magazine.

Oysterband are:
John Jones - voice, melodeon
Alan Prosser - guitars, voice
Ian Telfer - violin, voice
Al Scott - bass, mandolin, voice
Adrian Oxaal - cello, voice
Sean Randle - drums

Cast @ FAB Festival, Middlewich View map - FAB Festival Permanent link

Cast

Originally formed in 1992 from the ashes of two of the most legendary and lauded guitar bands of all time, The La's and Shack, Cast released four albums, the second 'Mother Nature Calls' also went platinum (three of them top 10), and had ten top 10 singles, before disbanding in 2001. 'All Change' became the biggest selling debut album of all time for Polydor Records. After the band's split, John Power released three solo albums, and played intermittently with the reformed La's.

A decade later in 2012, the bands original line-up reunited with original producer John Leckie (Stone Roses, Radiohead, The Fall) for 'Troubled Times'. The reinvigorated band produced an album full of the anthemic, melodic and beautifully written songs for which they have always been loved by their fervent fanbase.

With Founding member Pete Wilkinson retiring form the band in 2013. John Power (guitar/vocals), Liam 'Skin' Tyson (lead guitar - also playing with Robert Plant) and Keith O'Neill (drums) were joined by former La's member Jay Lewis on bass.

At the end of 2015 Cast celebrated the 20th anniversary of their classic album 'All Change', with two sold out shows at the historic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall where they played the record in it's entirety accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

The bands Latest album 'Kicking Up The Dust' was released on 21st April 2017. The album, Cast's sixth studio album, was recorded at The Motor Museum in Liverpool and was produced by resident studio legend - Alistair Groves.

Labelled 'The Who of the 90's', Noel Gallagher once described watching Cast play live as "a religious experience."

Plus support from The Boo Radleys and Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals).
