Cast @ Nantwich Civic Hall, Nantwich View map - Nantwich Civic Hall Permanent link

Cast

Originally formed in 1992 from the ashes of two of the most legendary and lauded guitar bands of all time, The La’s and Shack, Cast released four albums, the second ‘Mother Nature Calls’ also went platinum (three of them top 10), and had ten top 10 singles, before disbanding in 2001. ‘All Change’ became the biggest selling debut album of all time for Polydor Records. After the band’s split, John Power released three solo albums, and played intermittently with the reformed La’s.

A decade later in 2012, the bands original line-up reunited with original producer John Leckie (Stone Roses, Radiohead, The Fall) for ‘Troubled Times’. The reinvigorated band produced an album full of the anthemic, melodic and beautifully written songs for which they have always been loved by their fervent fanbase.

With Founding member Pete Wilkinson retiring from the band in 2013. John Power (guitar/vocals), Liam ‘Skin’ Tyson (lead guitar – also playing with Robert Plant) and Keith O’Neill (drums) were joined by former La’s member Jay Lewis on bass.

At the end of 2015 Cast celebrated the 20th anniversary of their classic album ‘All Change’, with two sold out shows at the historic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall where they played the record in it’s entirety accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

The bands Latest album ‘Kicking Up The Dust’ was released on 21st April 2017. The album, Cast’s sixth studio album, was recorded at The Motor Museum in Liverpool and was produced by resident studio legend – Alistair Groves.

Labelled ‘The Who of the 90’s’, Noel Gallagher once described watching Cast play live as “a religious experience.”

Chris Helme @ Nantwich Civic Hall, Nantwich View map - Nantwich Civic Hall Permanent link

Chris Helme

Appearing with his band, Chris Helme, who first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire’s post-Stone Roses band ‘The Seahorses’ is still rightfully remembered for the anthemic Britpop classics ‘Love Is The Law’ and ‘Blinded By The Sun’ – songs that evoked everything the 90’s stood for, the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance. Present day societal context may well in fact mirror those times but the man himself, now, appears cut from an entirely different cloth.

Helmes has an enviable back catalogue, bolstered further by his acclaimed works with The Yards, but it’s his latest offering The Rookery’s knack for melody and imaginative, intricate, three-way guitar interplay that brings each track to such lush, blossoming, climaxes. Add to this Helme’s keen ear for arranging and those brooding string passages resonate even more deeply.

Fine Lines @ The Oddfellows Arms, Nantwich View map - The Oddfellows Arms Permanent link

Fine Lines

Fine Lines is a project started by singer/songwriter David Boardman in 2016. A long time lover of all things folky and rootsy, David has been writing acoustic based music for many years and has now collected those songs under the banner of Fine Lines.

Influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan & The Band, John Martyn and Mercury era Rod Stewart and also modern day troubadours such as Ray La Montagne and Ryan Adams, these stripped back, mature songs deal in heartbreak and soul baring. Centered around the core duo of David and co-vocalist Zoe Blythe and accompanied by a cast of strolling players, including Mark Radcliffe (Family Mahone, Galleon Blast etc.) on drums, these fine songs shine through.

In their short time together, Fine Lines have already played with the likes of folk giants Merry Hell, Mark Radcliffe’s Galleon Blast and John Power (The La’s/Cast). The band’s John Kettle produced debut album ‘Hour Of Need’ is OUT NOW on Parade Recordings and they are playing live throughout the UK.

James Lea @ Wilbraham Arms, Nantwich View map - Wilbraham Arms Permanent link

James Lea

James Lea (known as Lea) was born in Wrexham in November 1989. He was named after bassist Jimmy Lea by his Slade-mad Dad, which subsequently led to Lea growing up listening to the "noize" of Slade, Sweet, Bryan Adams, and later Oasis.

Inspired by the influx of reality pop TV in the early 2000's, he began singing at the age of 12 before buying his first guitar aged 13 - taught by Wrexham favourite, PJ Davies.

Around this time, Lea began entering and winning several local talent competitions, before reaching out further afield and entering regional and national competitions. This culminated with winning Staffordshire's Search For A Star in 2006.

By this time Lea had developed a repertoire big enough to sustain a set list, and began taking small gigs with his sister Lyndsay as duo act "Linzi & Lea".

Lea's setlist largely consisted of swing music, taking inspiration from Robbie Williams' Swing When You're Winning album and the emergence of Michael Buble.

This eventually led to Lea becoming the front man for Cheshire based swing band The Celebrities in the summer of 2009. In 2011 Lea travelled to Scandinavia, playing the role of Dean Martin in a Rat Pack tribute show.

Lea is also currently working for other Funky Entertainment bands such as The Funky Doctors and The Speakers, and has deputised for other North West bands such as Elbow Room, The JB's and The Jukes.

4.00pm afternoon show.

Free At Last @ The Railway, Nantwich View map - The Railway Permanent link

Free At Last

Free at Last were formed in 1982 under the name Uncle Sam. Uncle Sam featured three of the current members, Jak (guitar/vocals), Shane (guitar) and Mick (drums) until Dave joined on bass in 1994.

Uncle Sam's set contained a few original songs plus covers by such classic acts as ZZ Top, Pat Travers and of course Free. All the guys in the band have always had a great passion for the music of Free, so in 1996 when deciding to create a tribute there was only one choice who it would be.

Since then they have gone from strength to strength headlining at Bill Flynn's Free Convention and playing many of the top venues around the country, universally agreed to be the best Free and Bad Company tribute around.

With the original Bad Company reforming to promote their Anthology 2cd set, Paul Rodgers releasing solo albums and joining Queen as their singer for a world tour, it only serves to prove sustained interest in what the band are trying to recreate.

So for a show of 70's style red hot blues influenced, soul stealing ROCK the choice must be FREE AT LAST!

Electro 80's

The Eighties were a time of radical changes in both music and fashion.

Electro 80's pay tribute to this era, and have lovingly recreated songs by the afore mentioned pioneers (and many more), to create a live entertainment show that is sure to transport everyone from this generation, back to the days of underground club scenes and even school discos.
