Martin Rivers and Jaqi Kidd are musicians and songwriters based in the Northwest of England. They both arrived on the music scene during the punk and new wave movement of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Martin was in The Uninvited and Jaqi in another band by the name of Syringe. Although they had this musical background in common, it was only many years later that their paths crossed while attending a friend’s gig.
Martin was working on his own solo album at the time and drafted Jaqi in to contribute backing vocals. However, it soon became apparent that there was considerable mileage in a more collaborative approach; and as a consequence they joined forces as Rivers and Kidd. By sheer coincidence the first Crewe Steampunk Convivial was in town at the release of Martin’s Album “Different Skies”. Both the look and ethos of this movement appealed to Rivers and Kidd. They enthusiastically embraced it, and in the process gained a whole new audience.
Rivers and Kidd have gone on to play several festivals throughout the UK and are consolidating their position with the release of a four track EP: “Beyond the Veil”. They are currently touring the new release together with songs from Martin Rivers’ solo album.
