The definitive guide to live music and gigs in the Crewe area.
Jesus Christ Superstar traces the last seven days of the life of Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. A rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this show, the first of its genre, has seen many stage productions around the world. Loosely based on the Gospels, Superstar focuses on the personal conflicts between Jesus, his disciples, the people of Israel, and the leadership of Rome. The show is a product of its era, permeated with 1970’s rock, gospel, folk and funk themes, modern language and colloquialisms, and high-energy dance numbers.
Jesus Christ Superstar has become a musical phenomenon that permeated musical, cinematic, and religious culture and CAMS are delighted to be able to bring this phenomenon to the Lyceum Theatre.
Together, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber have succeeded in creating a musical masterpiece. Without being aware of it at the time, with Jesus Christ Superstar, they created one of the most important dramatic musical works of the twentieth century.
Featuring incredible songs such as ‘Heaven on their minds’, ‘I don’t know how to love him’, and of course ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, this spectacular production is definitely not to be missed.
